Program Changes
The NHR program, which offered tax benefits to foreign residents, is potentially ending in 2024. The Portuguese Government's State Budget Proposal for 2024 includes modifications signalling the end of the NHR regime. Existing NHR holders will maintain their status under the same terms until completion of ten years.
Nieuwe aanvragers kunnen in aanmerking komen tot 31 maart 2024, voor degenen die uiterlijk 31 december 2023 aan de voorwaarden voldoen.
Final decisions on the continuity of the NHR will be made after the vote on the budget law on 29 November 2023.
