Accommodation

Besides being right in front of the main Cascais beach, inside the Castle area of the historic villa of Cascais, Bay View Villa was designed by a famous and awarded architect, is finished with high quality marble and wood, and offers among other things the following features:

Terrace:
The property has a small outside area, with barbecue, along the perimeter of the house which can be used for sitting outdoors and it has a sunny roof terrace which can be utilised by adults (not suitable for young children). Roof terrace has a solar shower.


HOUSE RULES:
 
  • Smoking inside the house is strictly prohibited.
  • Please ensure you turn off all of the lights when leaving the villa.  One light near the entrance is acceptable if you plan to return after dark.
  • Please do not dispose of anything other than toilet paper in the toilet as the municipal drains in the old town are not efficient and toilets are very easily blocked.  If toilets are found to be blocked by anything other than toilet paper the repair cost will be passed on to you by the owner.
  • The four bedroom doors and blinds should always to be closed when you leave the villa. Any windows that are left opened, increase your chance of robbery which could incur costs for you.
  • The barbeque is there for your use, however it must to be cleaned after each usage and left clean on your departure.  If we are left to clean the barbeque there will be a supplement charge for cleaning it.
  • The top terrace Velux and blind must be closed after every usage.  If this is left open and it rains it will cause damage and it is unsafe to leave open as there is the chance of robbery.  Please be careful to make sure that the Velux closes properly before you leave (especially when you close the awning) as any part of the awning that blocks the sliding Velux will cause the sensor to re-open the Velux.
  • In case of any loss of any of the house keys, the tenant will be charged the replacement cost.  Some of these keys are security tagged and cost €100 and more to be re-cut.  Please look after them.
  • Please report any damage or broken items immediately.  Tenants are responsible for replacement with a similar item.
  • Whilst we do not charge for occasional accidental damage for such items as plates, glasses, cups and other kitchen utensils, a charge will be made if a cleaning company has to be brought in to remove stains or marks from furniture or carpets.  This will be taken from the security deposit and any excess charges will be made against guests.
  • Please be respectful when using heating/cooling in the villa. It is included in the rental amount but based on reasonable usage.  As it takes just a few minutes to warm or cool the villa please do not leave appliances on in rooms of the villa whilst not occupied.

Notes on accomodation

  • Check out our welcome basket options or ask us about getting a small shopping list for you before your arrival of goods to your liking.
  • Ask about golf passports for 3 or 5 days play at very competetive prices.
  • Whilst golfers are playing a round of golf, we can arrange to take non-golfers on a day excursion. See our golf passport infomation here.
  • Our accommodation price includes one set of bed linen & bathroom towels. A compulsory end of stay cleaning fee applies. We can provide additional cleaning on a daily basis at a charge of €28 per hour (team of two).
  • Save space in your suitcases for all the shopping you want to take home. Beach towels and beach umbrellas are available to rent at €7.50 per item per week. You can add these and baby equipment at the time of online booking.

Things to do in Cascais

The holiday villa is located in the very Centre of Cascais and there are several local attractions within walking distance from the villa. Only a two minute walk from the famous Portuguese artist's gallery, Paula Rego's 'Casa das Historias' and a couple minutes from the Cascais Marina and fort.

The Lisbon Coast is home to some of Portugal's most fantastic beaches and the location of this villa rental is perfect for exploring the beaches in the Cascais/Lisbon area. With views of the Cascais bay and coastline the villa is perfect for guests who wish to relax by the Atlantic Ocean.

With easy access from Cascais Centre to the World Heritage site of Sintra, it is easy to get about and discover the Portuguese Heritage in the area.

The villa is a twenty minute walk along the Sea front will take you to Estoril, a lovely and prestigious area with several fabulous cafes (try out Garretts) and the Estoril Casino for those who are a little more daring.

The holiday rental is a five minute walk to Cascais train station and the journey into Lisbon is approximately thirty-forty minutes.

Other Information

Gastronomy

​The holiday villa is minutes walk away from the Cascais Marina where there are several good restaurants. Alternatively walking around the Centre of Cascais you will find several good restaurants, try 'Franguinhos da Guia' for the famous Portuguese piri piri chicken or venture along the seaside for fresh grilled fish.

The Cascais market selling fresh fish, fruit and vegetables is a 10 minute walk from the villa.

The property was more than we expected. Location, size, layout, view, art work, balcony. It was all wonderful. The flat is in the middle of Old Town and within a 15 minute walk there are literally 50 or more restaurants and pubs across the economic and gastronomic spectrum. No one should go hungry or thirsty at this location! The Wednesday/Saturday market is about a 20 minute walk and can't be beat for fresh fruits, vegetables, breads, fish, meat, cheese and flowers. Several wine shops nearby offer an excellent selection of Portuguese wines and ports. Boca do Inferno is an easy 25 minute walk and the bus & train stations are about 20 minutes. This is an exceptional property in an exceptional town. (Tripadvisor)

We were very pleased with the accommodation and the support and help from Cassie and the team, we were really made to feel welcome.
The villa was in a very good position and had excellent air con and facilities. The sun terrace was well used but we also were glad of the cooler ground floor as the weather was very good.

We had a wonderful time in Cascais for 10 days and the weather was great for April. The property was in a fantastic location within walking distance of everything, the square with lots of friendly restaurants (especially The Duke). Couple minutes walk to the beach which the Grandchildren enjoyed and easy walking to the station where you can get the train into Lisbon (about half hour journey). Cascais marina is a great place to people watch with plenty of restaurants and view of the yachts.

The property was great and suited our needs with a lovely view of the beach from the master bedroom. Grandchildren loved the fact that they had their own bedrooms. Very comfortable and homely property.

Will definitely come back.

We had a fantastic stay in Cascais. Lucky with the weather and a lot of good food and drinks. As for the food in Portugal, we almost esclusively had seafood. We are from Norway and are used to fresh fish, and we must really say that we were amazed by the freshness and diversity of the sea food and the inventiveness of the portuguese kitchen. And Portugal also has an imense diversity in wine and mostly with a very high quality.

The house was perfect for us - a family of four + my mother in law. Cassie gave us a lot of good tips for what to do and where to shop etc.

The taxi driver made the trip go smooth and told us about what to eat and drink when in Portugal, and even gave us a small sightseeing in Cascais before we arrived regarding where shops and supermarkets are, and the market etc.

“My daughter and I had a lovely time in this apartment. The instructions were clear and the managing company were great, they gave us lots of local info and got us a kettle which wasn't in the apartment. There is a very comprehensive booklet which had a menu at the back, meals home cooked and delivered to your door, I recommend it - my brother and family were staying in another apartment in the same street and so we all ate at his as it was bigger and the lady delivered there for 9 of us. The apartment has a really nice relaxed feel to it, lots of great art on the walls, near the hub of the town. The beds were very comfortable and had enough storage for clothes etc. Definitely recommend this place. ” (Airbnb)
