Well located in Bairro Alto area of Lisbon. First floor apartment in a totally restored Pombal era building with side views down to the main road and lots of light. A very well appointed apartment, decorated by a careful owner with Norwegian inspiration but with a lot of Portuguese soul. Just a short 2 minute walk to the Camões square, were you will find historical cafes and tourist attractions. Lovely and cosy apartment makes you feel at home. 25171/AL

Step out of the front door and you find yourself right in the heart of it all. This area is rich in history and culture. It's extremely trendy with a variety of the best bars & restaurants just up a couple of blocks. As soon you get out the door you are in the night area where you can get a true Portuguese night life experience... Hop on the charming "Elevador da Bica" (Lisbon's famous tram inaugurated 1892) to be transported back to times gone by. The property is within 15 minutes walk of the fresh produce market at Avenida 24 Julho near Cais do Sodré station.
Spill out into the plentiful cafés, bars and speciality shops for a real Lisboeta experience. Take in the sights and sounds whilst enjoying a typical continental breakfast or an afternoon beer "imperial" on the pavement cafés and watch the world go by.
This lively suburb of downtown Lisbon, one of the more intelectual parts of the city, frequented and inhabited by journalists, writers, students and visitors alike... just steps away from the trendiest shopping streets.
The area around this self-catering Lisbon Coast property has plenty to offer in respect of food, shopping, transport and other amenities such as pharmacies, banks, et cetera.
Lisbon and the Lisbon Coast are both an all-year-round destination. Summers, whilst warm, are rarely oppressive and the cooling sea breeze keeps it comfortable even during the hottest months. Very mild winters mean you can enjoy your short break in the winter sun in Lisbon. The nearby town of Sintra is a World Heritage site is well worth a visit.
Lisbon itself has lots to delight; from taking an old electric tram up the steep hills of Lisbon to whizzing up to the top of the Santa Justa Elevator to get a panoramic view of the city of Lisbon. Do visit Alfama (the old quarter) and be sure to wear comfortable rubber soled shoes to avoid slipping on the cobbles. In the evenings, take in a Fado evening over dinner in one of the many restaurants in this area. Bairro Alto is also wonderfully lively at night – lots of restaurants, Fado houses and late night bars/clubs.
June 12th is the night of the Festival of St Anthony (Santo António); the best night for trying traditional sardines in Lisbon. Go by tram - #15 is the best - to Belem. It leaves from Praça da Figueira and stops at Praça do Comércio and Cais do Sodré before going on to Belém (getting off by Jerónimos Monestary) - a wonderful place of fountains, parks, monuments and monasteries. Tram #28 is also worth taking a ride on to get the proper Lisbon tram experience, which can be caught at Miradouro das Portas do Sol and riding it until the Estrela Basílica.
Worth visiting in the Estremadura and beyond are, Óbidos, Sintra, Azeitão & Setúbal, Fatima & Nazaré. Alentejo is a little further (about 2 hours) but worth visiting are Évora and Monsaraz. The Esporão Wine Estate is worth having lunch at if you are going as far as Monsaraz.
Sintra is a World Heritage site and has a lot to be seen, including the Moorish Castle, the Palace of Pena, the National Palace and the mysterious Quinta da Regaleira. It also offers great shopping and restaurants. Markets in Sintra are on the 1st and 3rd weekends of each month. And with Lisbon only 25 minutes away and Cascais only 15 minutes, you can get all the cosmopolitan and night life you need.
A short distance away you can enjoy a lovely lunch at the Don Quixote Restaurant. This terrace bar is located at a windmill just a stone's throw away from the westernmost point in Europe. Sit relaxing with sangria in your hand and an incomparable view of the Guincho Beach and the Atlantic Ocean in front of you and the Sintra Hills behind. A truly perfect location for sunsets. Snacks are available including tea and scones. Pay a visit to Cabo da Roca, the most westerly point of Europe, where you can enjoy a cliff top walk with spectacular views and visit a local tourism point. There are many walking routes in the mountains (parts of it protected by World Heritage) behind Cascais, if you wish we can provide information and/or contacts to the local walking groups.
Otherwise for the more adventurous traveller, we can arrange organized buggy/go-kart tours along the coastline or into the protected mountain area (some tours need to be pre-organized so that permits can be obtained for the protected areas). The delightful old town of Ericeira takes you back in time to the days when it was a tiny fishing village. Cobbled streets, white-washed houses and a plethora of restaurants and cafes offer excellent food, especially the sea-food for which Portugal is deservedly famous. Ericeira is also legendary for its excellent surfing conditions and annually hosts a round of the ASP World Tour Surf Championships.
Coast / Beach
As Lisbon is located by the river mouth of the Rio Tejo, there are no beaches within walking distance, although there are plenty of fantastic beaches only a few train stops away. Catch the train from Cais do Sodré that runs all the way to Cascais along the coastline in approximately 30 minutes and you will find that you are spoilt for choice. Your closest beach is in Santo Amaro and the further you travel, the better the beaches get! For those that are interested in surfing, body-boarding and kite-surfing, it is well worth travelling a little further to Guincho beach just slightly beyond Cascais, although Carcavelos beach, which is much closer, is also suitable for these activities.
These have superb beach restaurants dotted all along the way serving fresh fish, sardines, various seafood and the famous Portuguese steak roll (Prego no pão).
If bar-hopping and dancing the night away is your thing, then you've come to the right place. In Lisbon, a sunset does not mean the end of the day by any means. A typical evening might start in Bairro Alto/Santos, where you can find numerous bars along the narrow streets of Lisbon. It is worth making a quick stop by Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara for a spectacular view of Lisbon.
If partying until the sun comes up is your idea of a good time, then why not pay a visit to ‘Op Art' by the docks in Alcântara (best in the summertime) and dance the night away by the riverside with stunning views. Lux Frágil is arguably the best club in Lisbon (partly owned by Hollywood actor John Malkovich) opposite the Santa Apolónia train station and stays open until the early hours of the morning.
There are some fantastic golf courses in the Cascais area and on the other side of the Rio Tejo. We offer to pre-purchase your Golf Passports with our Golf & Accommodation Packages. Our Golf & Accommodation Package entitles the golfer to play 3/5 courses (1 green fee p/course, as many rounds as possible) at a wide variety of courses.
If you would like us to make the necessary arrangements, please just let us know in advance whether your preference is the 3 or 5 day passport and which other course you would like to play.

A car is not needed for this property as you find yourself extremely close to the city centre. A variety of different modes of transport are all at your disposal, whether you decide to take the metro, tram, bus, taxi, train (which can also take you all the way to the equally beautiful Cascais in around 30 mins), or simply go on foot.
Arriving in Lisbon
Lisbon's primary airport (Portela) is located very near the city centre, so it shouldn't take you long to get wherever it is you're going in Lisbon. There is a regular shuttle service that operates between the airport and the Cais do Sodré train station, which is located right by the coastline. There is never a shortage of taxis, but beware of any taxi drivers that try to take you the long route to wherever it is you're headed. We advise that you acquire a map of the city and have a vague idea where it is you're going to avoid being swindled by the taxi drivers. If you find yourself crossing either the 25 de Abril or Vasco de Gama bridges, you are going the wrong way!
Alternatively, we are able to offer an airport transfer. Please send us an email and we will be happy to assist you.
If you are travelling from Faro airport, it is just a 2 and a quarter hours from Lisbon by car. There is also a train service that runs from Faro to Lisbon.
Both Lisbon and Faro airports offer a car rental service. http://www.holidayautos.co.uk/ or http://www.skyscanner.net/ offer great prices for car rental and we will provide written and map directions to the apartment - it's really simple.
We can provide plenty of advice and information on transport, local restaurants, shops, leisure activities and places of interest. Your apartment will have a manual which will give you tips for eating locally and things to do.
Portugal is famous for its traditional food, and in Lisbon you are spoilt for choice with a wide range of traditional and international cuisine to suit all tastes and budgets. There are a variety of restaurants or “Tascas” and bars at your doorstep and scattered all across Lisbon. Why not try the “Docas” (docks) in Alcântara, which offers you a plentiful range of bars and restaurants for you to choose from and only a couple of train stops away from Cais do Sodré station. Alternatively, you can find a large cluster of restaurants and bars in Bairro Alto, which also boasts a lively atmosphere at night. There are also some fantastic little gems near and around Praça do Comércio.

“It could not be better, Cassie was very kind. the best experience, highly recommended!” (Airbnb)
“This place is great in all aspects (if your not picky). Since it is close to restaurants & bars, it can get noisy if your the one sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room (so be prepared). But it is quiet from the bedroom. If you use yelp, you will discover lots of small restaurants (sometimes w/ Fado entertainment) and bars close by. The LOCATION is really great. UBER was very convenient from the main square. My family really enjoyed our Portugal trip.” (Airbnb)
“I booked the apartment from 5th to 16th October. The apartment is better than I had expected and better than the photos. It is very stylish and yet very practical. The layout is fantastic and the location is superb. I only realised that it is so convenient after I explore the vicinity. it is very very central and I walked everywhere. the Tram 28 is just round the corner. there are so many many choices of restaurants nearby. shopping is also only 10 mins away. the area is super cool and chic. The apartment itself is fantastic, very very spacious and the furnishings is stylish and clean. I would definitely recommend this apartment to everyone.” (Airbnb)
We had a fantastic stay in this Bairro Alto Apartment was very clean, modern and spacious for 2 people. Very comfortable bed. Bathroom a bit small but functional. No air conditioning, but if you leave the front patio doors open and the back window open, you will have a nice cool breeze throughout the apartment. Centrally located in Bairro Alto, close to many bars, cafes and restaurants. Ideally located, close to many attractions and transport in and around Lisbon. Correspondence with Marisa, the property manager, was very efficient and answered all our questions. Overall, we would definitely come back again. (Airbnb)
(Airbnb)
"We spent 15 days in this apartment with my 18-year-old son and a friend of his age. We found it comfortable and clean. Excellent bedding whether the bed of the room or the spacious sofa bed. The separation of the spaces with sliding panels is very practical and allows to live all together while having its moments of intimacy. In this case, I was out of step with the schedules of the sunsets and the boys, but we did not disturb each other. The area is noisy since it is a festive area of outings for young tourists and Portuguese but I love it! It is extremely friendly and warm. Closed windows are very efficient. The location is very central and very close to the trains station of Cais do Sodre which leads to the beaches of the west coast and even the south coast. Very close to Rossio train station from where you can get to the enchanting city of Sintra. The boys loved being able to return from the beach and come out in this festive area at the foot of the house. Excellent stay. " (Airbnb)
(Airbnb)
“This apartment was perfect for a weekend in Lisbon - very close to public transport and a good central location for getting to all areas. The apartment was lovely inside, and very spacious and clean! Decent shower and well equipped kitchen." (Airbnb)
"Great location. Bright and spacious. Comfy bed." (Airbnb)
Encore merci ! Recommande +++
his is an amazing apartment. 1) The location is superb - it is at the night life district of Bairro Alto (get into the bar and club scene just after stepping out your front door), and also minutes away from Chiado, Baixa, a metro station and a tram stop (the latter is basically less than a minute walk). Plenty of cafes, restaurants and bakeries. The street is narrow and barely has any vehicle traffic, but lots of people walking around, which I liked. If you do not partake in night life, you can still relax in the apartment. At least I did. 2) The apartment itself is wonderful.Fully equipped with what one needs, cosy and relaxing. 3) The check in was a breeze. João spent a good half an hour giving me tips where to go and what to do (and, equally importantly, where not to go and what not to do), which made my stay in Lisbon very delightful and enjoyable. Very much looking forward to staying here again!
Lovely, bright flat right in the centre of it all. Joao was also great, was waiting when we arrived plus had lots of useful advice. Was also very prompt when answering any queries during our stay. Would be happy to return to this flat, the location was excellent.
We had a good and nice stay. The communication by the landlord and its team was just perfect, from the very booking until the end of our stay. The appartment is centrally located, well organised, bright, fresh and clean. It's a perfect place for two people. (AIrbnb)
Great apartment in central location. Very comfortable place- firm bed, good size bathroom and enough kitchen supplies to cook when we wanted to. Joao and Marisa are great hosts! Marisa gave us great communication before we arrived. Joao was warm and welcoming. He gave us the best restaurant, supermarket, pastel de nata and New Years advice. (Airbnb)
Thank you Joao for all the local knowledge, your time recommending the wine bar called Vestigius. We met the brother and sister who runs the place. Their white sangria is so delicious!. We also went to the seafood restaurant you recommended called Cervejaria Ramiro for lunch, not dinner as it had a long queue! Once again, thank you Joao!
The apartment it is close to everything, all walking distance !! Very recommendable for couples or perhaps with teenager son/daughter! (Airbnb)
We felt really welcomed by Marisa, Juan and Gonçalo with who we could speak and ask many questions. The location is really nice (near Place Luis de Camoes) where you can take the metro (2 min by feet) or the electric E28. (Airbnb)
This place is perfect ! Very clean, cute and situated in the heart of Lisbon. I recommend this place ! (Airbnb)
Great apartment with a really prime location and wonderful hosts. Marisa was super communicative leading up to our trip and was so nice to accommodate an early check in for us in the morning as we arrived into the country early. Goncalo who met us at the apartment was fantastic and a wealth of knowledge about things to do in Lisbon and about the neighborhood. The apartment was perfect for the two of us and it's location was so centric to absolutely everything - great restaurants, the tram and metro, both train stations walking distance, etc. The apartment is exactly as shown in the photos, too. We would be quick to rent the apartment again next time we are back in Lisbon (Airbnb)
(Airbnb)
I have nothing to say, Everything was just perfect. I really enjoyed my stay in this flat. The bed is so confortable, internet was working perfectly, the owners are super cool. Situation can t be better:) thsnks (Via AIRBNB)
